Mexico Study Abroad Programs

The issue of safety in Mexico has been in the news lately, so IFSA-Butler wants to assure students and parents that the border town troubles making headlines are far removed from calm, clean Mérida. For more about this issue, download our information flyer.

Mexico is close to home, yet it’s a world away. During your semester, year or summer in this diverse country, you can immerse yourself in a proud cultural heritage dating back almost 20,000 years. Many terms from its famous Aztec and Mayan civilizations can be heard in the Spanish spoken in Mexico today, and foods used by those ancient civilizations—corn, beans and peppers—have become the key ingredients of staple meals and high cuisine alike. Don't miss the Aztec ruins of Teotihuacán near Mexico City or the Mayan temples on the Yucatán peninsula.

You can fully immerse yourself in the culture, history and warmth of Mexico at Universidad Autónoma de Yucatán. Located in beautiful Mérida in the Yucatán Peninsula, the university is one of the most renowned in Mexico, with many of its majors regularly ranked as the best in the country. A full complement of humanities, business and social science courses will make for a rewarding time abroad.
